Lenga Ugaidi Na Talanta is an initiative that seeks to channel youth creativity towards countering the violent extremist narratives. It is a Short Film, Music and Poetry competition that targets youth under 35 years in the fight against Radicalization, Violent Extremism and Terrorism.

The first edition of the competition was held in July 2017 and was a great success. The competition attracted hundreds of youths across the country under one cause “To Fight Violent Extremism”. This year’s competition was held on 16th September and Foxton Media was one of the sponsors of the event (Lenga Ugaidi Na Talanta Season 5), which is now the biggest film competition in the Horn of Africa.

The spirit of artists like Mbogi Genje singing to the decision-making table amplifies the youth voice. As seen from their creative arts, it speaks to the hearts of youth, hence better placed to spread anti-violent extremism and terrorism messages.

Art is a powerful tool to fight violent extremism and terrorism. Youth are endowed with the talent that needs to be tapped to reinforce the war on terrorism.
